Democracy, cattle classes, and austerity drives.

September 22, 2009

I rarely concur with The Hindu except for its weather reports. Only weather reports since it is of my opinion that bias in reporting weather serves nobody’s interests. Wait a minute. I could be naive here, am not sure. In fact, didn’t their fatherland actually demonstrated that they could bend even the weather as they like it. I really am not sure.

Coming to the point, the paper (formerly Newspaper) recently in an article has ‘established’ that a princely sum of one crore has been spent on the three day visit by Congress Party’s General Secretary to the Tamil Country. O.k. I made up that ‘princely’ adjective. Just borrowing the word from Maya Ji. I wish to clarify that I do not approve of building memorials using public money.

Here, I do not wish to go on about ‘What you can do for aam aadmi with one crore rupees’ kind of stuff; for i am not good hypothesizing, and you might not want nothing to do with any supposing. Also, I am not going to call upon the spokesperson of the grand old party to readily offer their disapproval for displaying impropriety, and for the heli-hopping insensitivity when aam aadmi has to put up with traveling cattle class.

My point is spending one crore rupees in the hope of building a base in Tamil Country and winning votes in future elections is nothing but a pipe dream. Whoever has thought of this idea of building bases and campaigning in southern parts is far removed from reality. The reasons are as obvious as a ruling party’s bye-election victory.

Yet, I enumerate:

Firstly, we are a state of rational people and all, we don’t fall for your austerity drives and your schmaltzy backing of aam aadmi and all. We don’t get offended when someone insults our holy-cow. No Problem at all.

Secondly, for pete’s sake, coin a term acceptable to us in place of aam aadmi. We are sworned to oppose anything hindi, even if its our name. Our hypocrisy in this regard will be quite a match to any standard one of yours.

Thirdly, you don’t have to talk about Lanka anymore; for, we are not concerned about Tamils in Lanka (or Tamils anywhere, for that matter) anymore and We are happy with our MM4 and Kala master.

Finally, You don’t have to work up a sweat. All we need to know is this: Can you distribute free DTH boxes to go with our color TVs. If yes, then our vote is for ya.
